Bill Evjen is an active proponent of the .NET technologies and community-based learning initiatives for .NET. He has been actively involved with .NET since the first bits were released in 2000. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Bill founded one of the first .NET user groups, St. Louis .NET User Group, www.stlnet.org. By 2001, Bill was already laying the foundation for the International .NET Association. He pitched the idea to Microsoft to receive funding and went on to build the highly regarded INETA Speakers Bureau consisting of the top ..NET presenters in the world. In his professional life, Bill is an acclaimed author and speaker on next-generation Web Services and related technologies. He has written more than 18 books including Professional ASP.NET 3.5, Visual Basic ..NET Bible, Web Services Enhancements, ASP.NET Professional Secrets, Wrox Professional VB.NET 3rd Edition, Wrox Professional C# 2008, and XML Web Services for ASP.NET. In addition to working in the .NET world, Bill is a Technical Architect serving for Lipper (http://www.lipperweb.com) which is part of Reuters, the international news and financial services company. Bill graduated from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, with a Russian language degree. When he isn’t tinkering on the computer, he enjoys spending his free time in his summer place in Toivakka, Finland.
